Book Review: I WILL TEACH YOU TO BE RICH

I believe him.

"…I take perverse pleasure in knowing how much you're going to dominate everyone else in the personal-finance arena."

- Ramit Sethi (p.84)

Pros

The intended audience for this book was young adults. The fact that he knows his audience well is clear because the book only contains information we can use at this age, instead of everything from having children to writing wills (topics that are covered in most personal finance books I read).

He gives so many specific scenarios, and for some of them, he even has scripts for what you would say if you, for example, call a credit card company to ask about lowering your fees.

Lastly, he markets his book as a "Six-Week Program" that helps you get your financial life together. He shows you very clearly what your priorities should be.

Cons

I think he tries a little too hard to be funny or witty sometimes. In fact, I would really appreciate it if he stopped using the word "sexy" in relation to personal finance (which he did 5 times in the introduction alone). That being said, it's no reason to not read the book!

Verdict

I highly recommend reading this book, and visiting his website iwillteachyoutoberich.com.
